I think its probably the weak storyboard and the source material which lacks basic plot composition and has devolved into power level bullshittery, and also the fact that nu manga/anime creators cant make a suspenseful scene with substance anymore(because that requires actual writing/movie directing skills), so they resort to animate shit flying around all the time to make fights look le epic. Its a high on crack interpretation of those manga panels which depict that said fight. This is what you get when your current animators have entered the bussiness because their favorite anime is dbz and one piece. They probably havent seen the classics, and those who have scratched that old anime surface, hasnt seen enough to appreciate that kind of old school animation. Besides, flashy shit is what anime normies want according to producers, right?
