Does /tv/ recommend this?

Im a long time fan of Office Space, supposedly this has somewhat of a similar vibe. Also, i am an actual slacker. I even quit my job 3 months ago in order to slack even harder.

Vibe? Hmm, it's more of a documentary or art film, but sure, the small town vibe is there.

You'll probably like it then, it's a slacker's paradise... as an idea or an example because otherwise it boils down to your politics (although I am a hard right monarchist and still love the movie)

It's probably the last "filmmaker's film" that was ever made and went mainstream... this and "Man with the Movie Camera" are the bookends of 20th century cinema. After "Slacker" mobile phones (cellphones) quickly went mainstream and the slack evaporated...

office space is remarkable for featuring "normal people"
Slacker and pic rel also do a good job at that

Thanks anon, torrenting right now.

How do you mean. I think most people arent born slackers but instead they become one because:
1. they cant find what they love, so most modern work becomes boring and pointless
2. they want a simple life, but the modern world no longer rewards simple things
3. they feel robbed and betrayed by the corporate/business world

I hate Richard Linklater so goddamn much. Fuck this movie, double-fuck Dazed and Confused, and triple-fuck Waking Life.

It's a very "technical" movie. More like a puzzle. I wasn't talking about the slacking part, slacking is just the failure of post-WW2 society or corporations to motivate you...

Why are you angry anon
I agree that Waking Life is pretentious slop though...

it's late 80's/early 90's "slacker" culture documentary
mostly gen x hipsters going off on random tangents about nothing at all
folks just getting by in low key jobs and not getting too involved in the rat race
that was something still possible to do back in the 90's with the cost of living back then
just think of it as a snapshot of a time gone by

I don't see it being like Office Space at all. I do recommend it. You have nothing better going on.

gen x was a big city white collar phenomenon though, people who became managers
people in this movie stretched their slacking days (18-23 maybe) as long as they could before settling in a blue collar job like truck driving or trades

it was also the de rigeur test/apprenticeship for everybody studying or wanting to work in journalism, the arts, or the movie industry... because if you don't like living like that, you won't like living like that for 50 years or probably more

and it was like this since the 1800s believe or not... cellphones destroyed this culture... people like in this movie nowadays got their future stolen by LGBT scum and diversity hires

Difficult to relate to for a modern audience, it may as well take place on another planet

>Dazed and Confused
it's quite sad because the director practically lived there so it is allegedly inspired from his personal experiences... can't believe he turned into a try-hard after Slacker
