It only took 15th place in most sold superhero comics in 2023 and that was after James Gunn announced his movie would be based on it. That comic came out in 2021 and continued until 2022.

He also had Tom King consult on Superman. Not Morrison. Not Waid. Not any number of 90s and 00s writers. As much as fans have conflicted with Wait anf Morrison of late, I think most DC fans apreciate their older DC work.

The comic is written by a former CIA employee. Somehow half his superhero comics are some bullshit about soldiers suffering from PTSD even though he mostly worked at a desk job. I don't know how he used his connections at the CIA to get into DC and now Hollywood, but it is weird as fuck.
