>>212995035>theres still 2 more in the works right?>>tfw rock navis and air navis are introduced>pure kinoFrom what I understand, it's supposed to be a trilogy but the scripts for 2 and 3 were too much for single films, so the second script was divided and shot simultaneously with the intention of releasing it as part 2 and 3 with the third script following the same pattern and being 4 and 5.
The thing I do like is that at least Cameron is making an attempt to expand his lore and mythology but the whole "bad humans vs good Na'vi" is played out, so bringing other hostile factions into the mix is interesting and logically the next step to escalate things.
But the question is how does Quaritch convince the fire tribe to side with him and what sort of beef do they have against the forest and water tribes that would motivate them to do so?
Only other groups they can include would be a desert and arctic tribe while Cameron has stated that his intention was to make his own version of LOTR and Dune by turning Avatar into a saga that he hopes will have mythic resonance with the public.
Problem is that no one really cares and, yes, Way of Water made 2 billion and I'd be lying if I said that it didn't entertain me but only on a superficial level as we've seen this story played out before.
It's just that Cameron is doing what Lucas did and using new techniques that hadn't been used to that extent.
But in Lucas' case he was taking a genre and revitalizing it where there's nothing new in Avatar other than its effects which are quite incredible on the big screen, yes I went to the theater and only because I wanted to see it in a higher frame rate and although it's more immersive, once it was over I didn't give it another thought nor felt compelled to talk about it as what we're seeing is basically photoreal cartoons with no cultural impact, successful, yes, long lasting, no!!!FACT!!!
