i was just on a late 00's music binge and man, i cannot believe i had people at the time say what a shitty time we lived in. talk about being spoiled for choice and then starved to death.

Are you serious? The late 2000s sucked
>punk and scene music on its last legs, now stale and corporate
>boom bap rap music completely gone, now replaced by Kanye knockoffs
>dubstep
>top 40 pop now stuck between lady Gaga ripoffs and the coming stomp clap wave
>metal, IDM, other underground genres still ticking but with less important releases than before and after

I was graduating high school then so this is with nostalgia goggles btw

Actually should have posted this picture. Listen to this album if you want to know what everything sounded like back then. Then compare it to early Eminem and also modern rap. It sounds like shit. This period was a low point for rap and pop music. Rock was dead/dying. The whole mainstream was trash. At least now there are 808s.

not saying the era was good but those are gay genres
rock and rap were trash from 2005-2012 imo and rock is actually still trash but at least louder now

>those are gay genres
My point is they were the last human music to enter the mainstream. The last time you saw normies sitting around listening to songs written and performed by creative people with instruments in their hands, those were Fallout Boy and MCR songs. The alternative was hip hop, which during the boom bap era was also written and performed by rappers and turntablists.

>rock and rap were trash from 2005-2012
Yes, they died out during that time. Rock was later completely forgotten (in the mainstream) and rap changed into something else. They both got eaten by top 40 pop/dance music.
