They fucked this up so bad. All the big heroes should be like James Bond and just recast when the actor pussies out or is being difficult.

Short of that they should just abandon Avengers as the focus and shift to X-Men, with no fucking multiverse nostalgia-baiting. New team new actors adapting all the classic beats.

Honestly it is really clear that Joss Whedon was the reason the over-arching MCU worked. they need someone who is familiar with the universe, is a good writer that cares about arcs, and can oversee the entire thing from a high view.

Everything seems so aimless, and now Gunn is doing DCU and has provided a solid start. It is crazy that things are probably just going to swap with the MCU being absolutely unbearable and the DCU being compelling.

They think that the X-Men is going to save them. I'd imagine they're hedging all of their bets on it, and it makes sense. X-Men is a progressive franchise that's beloved by the masses. I grew up watching it Saturday mornings on Fox, then watched the original movies and thought they were awesome. Seems like a slam dunk given Disney and Marvel's focus. Mutants are a stand-in for society's downtrodden, outcasts, yet they always save the norms and try to make them realize we aren't so different, after all. It's basic and cozy and fine.

They are going to fuck it up, probably with casting but also likely with story. Storm will lecture Professor X about racism and become the hero of the story. Nightcrawler will be vocally non-binary. Colossus will revert back to being from the USSR, pointing out the issues with capitalism.

Naturally, Wolverine will be black. It will never be addressed, and he'll still says "Bub" and speak fluent Japanese. They'll even reference this, tongue in cheek, when one of the characters brings up black inequity in America... they will look at him and he'll scoff and say, "I'm Canadian, bub."

When it fails, they'll blame everyone but themselves.

But that's for the future. For now, just wait for the teaser trailer. You'll see a blast of red plasma. You'll see someone turning to ice while screaming. You'll see a young girl, eyes closed, surrounded by floating object while her parents look worried on at her. Two old men will be playing chess in a park. Then, some shitty actor you've seen in a few roles will be in a wheelchair with his head shaved, and he'll say "I'm putting together a team." Screen black, then cut to Wolverine's claws coming out, and the hands are black!
