I have not seen a show that is better or have the same heart. The show tackled simple religious ideas, is there a God etc.., all the way to the religious martyrs, cults, power of faith, religious zeitgeists, terrorism. I thought the way it handled these themes, and the over arcing religious story in the show, was one of the best parts of the show. Deep as a puddle to be fair, but in my opnion the sum outweighs how deeply the ideas were explored.

as far as space sci fi, hands down the best.

No other show gave me the same feeling unfortunately. Closest was probably Expanse 1 - 3 and Lost

Babylon 5 is the only other Sci Fi at that level IMO. Deep Space 9 has it's qualities but was ultimately unwilling to rise above the trapping of Star Trek IMO.

Not really Sci Fi but Lost was the same era and had very similar religious themes.

Also Legend of the Galactic Heroes if you like anime.

And because Japanese /tv/ is all about embarrassing their actors, they made her do a super lame skit (joke) in order to embarrass her on public television.
