It's shot on superior film stock which will always look more muted than digital which overexposes everything and makes it all look like Fortnite. Now competent directors know this and will try to tone down the ugly Youtube look in post processing but Gunn is too stupid for that. GoTG movies also had that shitty video game look.

Movies shot on film always had colors and light until inferior "artists" started using them. Oh they are so artistic for taking away stuff that the eye are built to see!!!
Digital, on the contrary, looks like shit unless you do all the extra step to make it look like film, manually correcting everything, which you canot really do because you consciously perceive only a fraction of what your brain actually perceive. That's why digital always look less "real"

No, they had light before Technicolor died. Which is a real tragedy and probably when cinema started its slow death. I still prefer the muted film look of Snyder films than that over-expressive digital Disneyland shit found in recent superhero films.
