I would agree with you if it wasn't for the terrible ending where everything just sort of fizzles out. They're running through jungles getting attacked. None of the dinosaurs are actually defeated and are still lurking somewhere. There's no plan on their escape. They reach the beach and suddenly a fleet of helicopters is coming to reclaim the island and they happen to arrive at just the right time and day to save everyone. It felt completely unearned and was basically just a lazy deus ex machina ending. If it had a better ending where the characters save themselves then it would definitely be the best sequel.

My personal headcannon regarding the spinosaurus is that it is intelligent enough that it was able to associate the humans with the plane that crashed/grazed it, presumably causing him a great deal of pain, and thus is on a personal quest of revenge against the humans, hence it stalking them.

I always find raptor scenes the most boring action scenes in every Jurassic film. Dinosaurs are mainly cool because they're huge lizards, not human sized birds chasing people around. It doesn't help that they're the least accurate dinosaur depicted, so the cool factor of "wow these things were real and they're this scary" is lost and just makes them feel like generic monsters.

This. This is why it's the best one. It knows it only has 3 good ideas: The Spinosaurus, The Raptors, the Pteranodon cage.
