How did Alfonso CuarΓ³n nail it so well?

The entire aesthetic is harrowingly accurate.

>Filmed expertly, but also not in a way that draws attention to itself
>Clive Owen giving a brilliant performance (what ever happened to him anyway?)

And the sound work on it is top notch, I take it you saw it at the cinema yesterday too? Totally blew me away.

It's less about the environment and more about the people populating it. A lot of modern Britain has always had a, somewhat unique, post-industrial grimness to it but people made do. Poverty, alcoholism, domestic abuse, robbery and the occasional serial killer were the biggest problems society faced from say 1945-95. But that was a homogeneous community dealing with the handful of their own people that couldn't play by the rules. Positively quaint compared to machete gangs, looting, suicide attacks, industrial scale child abuse etc

The only thing inaccurate is in the movie the borders are actually closed and enforced and all the immigrants are treated like caged dogs as they should

In real life england you got all the third immigrants running around like rats with total impunity and immunity and the state do everything they can to protect them. So in its actually worse in reality.

There is no problem with "fertility rates". In 1late 1600s there were less than 700 million people globally, now there's more than that crammed int Europe alone.
This is just nature course-correcting. And before you spout some incel nonsense about how the turd world keeps breeding, no, they were behind the curve but TFR is plummeting everywhere now (it's on a downward trend even in India, but not fast enough)
The reality is we don't need these many people, we'll be fine. Whining about fertility rates is really just incels concern trolling about how they're owed a girlfriend by the government

> Doesn't have at least 3 balaclava'd niggers on e-bikes circling looking for phones and bags
> Doesn't have Mohammed letting his 140kg burqa'd wife out of the free motability people carrier with his 12 epileptic kids

You must have filmed this utopian shot in the Cotswolds

I just warched thos for the first time because of this thread. Holy kino. It was so great. And only an hour fourty. It just kept going. The camera work was fantastic, the tone of the world and attitude of all the characters was amazing. The last scene was tense. I was expecting the boat to blow up or something, but it just ended. Great.

It was unbelievable how much the last of us took from this. The burning car scene, the entire transport a girl savor across a dying world thing. The lone smuggler. I couldn't believe it.

Wayyyyy better than i expected.
