Kylo getting beaten early on was lame. Can you imagine if Darth Vader was beaten at the end of A New Hope and they were still trying to play up how scary he was for two more films after that?

I went in Highschool with a teacher. I wasn't ever big into the originals, but I could see the joy she was having from it, nostalgia for her youth.
But at the end of the day, that's what Force Awakens will always be. The least painful of the Sequel trilogy but at the same time just a film catering to the nostalgia of the originals. Arguably way too much to the point what ever original ideas it tries to present most people can't even remember, or glaze over because they're that forgettable.

Jar Jar is a better developed character than Rey with his own arc.

I was fine with it being derivative as a reboot, but on the premise it established interesting characters and a new arc - personally it set all that up for me and then obviously the sequels failed to deliver on any of it

This Disney slop bored me to death. It's odd, this movie and Solo simply bored me and I couldn't finish them, yet I could finish Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker due to just how utterly bizarre they were. Once was enough though.

And what about Phantom Menace? Is it a flawed movie? Sure. I think the decision to change Anakin to a 9 year old in the first movie of this prequel trilogy was not the best move. As was diminishing the focus on Obi Wan Kenobi in favor of Qui Gon (and I like Qui Gon quite a lot, he's a good character, wise and sympathetic, a great Jedi and warm man). However, the movie still has an interesting backstory for how a corrupt Republic slowly turns into a galactic empire ruled by a clever manipulative senator from a small planet.
At the very least it sets up the Anakin/Obi Wan relationship and the movie has several great action pieces such as the pod race and the final battle with the duel between Maul and Qui Gon/Obi Wan being one of the Star Wars series highlights.

I can't remember anything from Force Awakens.

He tortured both the heroes and his underlings. He killed Obi Wan. He killed multiple rebel pilots, almost killed Luke, but was surprised when Han shot his buddy which hit him after which he quickly recovered and arrived back home in time for cornflakes. How is this the equivalent to a well trained former Jedi turned dark whatever warrior bested by a force sensitive not even a padawan in training individual who is written to be liked by everyone and capable of defeating anyone including him by beating him into a pulp only for him to be saved when the planet conveniently splits in two thus saving him from the demigod woman?
