if i was the president i would severly cut all tourism to hawaii and turn it into a clean calm nature reserve, the natives could stay but would have to follow some rules that i wont elaborate on here. i hate over indulgent tourism, cruises, mega resorts and so on. all excess aberrations of the boomer generation. hawaii is beautiful and is being ruined by it. now do i think its better under native rule? no because they probably just chanted and made tiki dresses before being discovered. i think its main purpose should be as a nature reserve as well as a useful location for geologists and others to visit and study. a small tourism industry with a few low footprint resorts could stay around so the natives can have jobs, a military base too.

That's interesting. I was just on some native american land and they have forest fires that essentially do the same thing. The hotel I was going to stay at burnt down. I was doing the math for this tour I took and these natives are pulling in $11 million a year on the low end. Do Hawaiians have any sort of monopoly on their land like the mainland natives do?
