Untrue, many do see the film, it varies from actor to actor, and from contract to contract. Even if it's a bad film, the actor may have had a good time making it and will watch it with the cast and crew at the event.

Now for when you're doing a full press tour for a big movie and you've got premieres in LA, New York, London, Berlin, Rome, Seoul, Tokyo, Sydney over the course of a couple of weeks, yeah you probably are going to the bar or to the hotel while the film is on and coming back for the afterparty.

Just remember these red carpet things are only a fraction of press done for big movies, there's the red carpet premieres but also photocalls, talkshow appearances (morning and late night), radio interviews, press junkets, promotional tie-ins, etc
