What happened to all the regular people the RIAA successfully sued for millions of dollars for downloading music? Were any judgements ever appealed and reversed? They're probably fucked for life and you can listen to any song you like as easily as ever now, for free

Nothing.
The RIAA targetted individuals because it was easier to get judgement.
Limewire stepped in and settled instead, then shut down.

>Nothing.
Do you mean they appealed and the judgement was tossed out, or nothing changed and they're stuck paying the RIAA for the rest of their lives?

>my poor little musicians, if you download their music, they'll only have their massive tours and and all the other merch sales to sustain them!!

it's not that metallica was starving, piracy would hurt smaller musicians a lot in that era where buying was the only other way of listening to music. it's was selfless, thankless act.
Thanks for looking out for less fortunate musicians, Lars. I appreciate it
