Because we didn't get a proper Captain Marvel 2 story yet and we will never get it, instead we got some spin-off with soem kid MC nobody liked where CM only role is one shitty moment to dance on some planet with retarded faggot completely destroying her as any proper character in the franchise.
They decided to bury this CM installment fully for unknown reason when first movie was such a blast.

Hell in canon there are a lot of characters in Marvelverse male and also female alike who can kick Captain Marvel ass or give her a run for the money.
