Just watched it. If anything, I'm glad Jack Kirby's ideas are being well-translated into the big screens, specially with how difficult it is to do so. Superman also captured many elements that could be traced to him, which is unsurprising given he has written quite a lot for DC, starting off with a Jimmy Olsen comic. I like how they portrayed Galactus, but I'd prefer him and his ship to be more colorful. That, and maybe having his arrival feel more apocalyptic, more flair.

The CGI was odd, this I can agree. It felt like 80% of the movie was CGI, which is ironic because they advertised a lot their physical sets. I think Galactus should've been a dude wearing his purple suit and having it be of high quality, maybe at some point they did so but decided to plaster the mechanical texture over him. The cam quality really brings out some of the bad CG in the movie. I was watching it on a regular theater screen, no IMAX or Ultra AVX and for some reason I was seeing a lot of blurriness around Reed's stretch powers and all the time around Franklin. Even on the big screen things look suspect so the cam rip is even worse

Sure. Thats what happened. He was a B lister until the movie. The movie character is not even Tony Stark. It was Quirky mcQuip Downey Jr and later that new character was retrofitted into the comic books. It was a very succesful reinvention, not unlike the GOTG, who were nothing like the comic books and now the comic books are more like the movies.

But yes, people liked him in just a single movie.
