They both suffer from the same thing. They are not conventional stories at all. The characters have no development. They just throw you a bunch of characters and expect you to care about them. I would not recommend either of these films.

When I went to the Thursday night preview showing of Superman, it was only 40% full in the theater and it was silent as fuck during the whole showing.
Tonight when I went to the F4 preview screening, it was completely full and people actually laughed and reacted to stuff.
I liked Superman more personally, but my anecdotal take is that F4 is going to make substantially more money

We'll know Monday. If it opens higher than Superman it will probably end higher. Superman has lost nearly 400 theaters; mostly premium large format screens. Once you start losing the PLFs the returns take a nose dive.

I was baffled that he spends the whole movie getting his ass kicked. I was like oh this is all leading up to a scene where he’ll be like “I was holding back this whole time… now you’ve made me mad” and it never happened. He just kept getting his ass kicked, the whole time. In the finale the brown boy is praying for Superman’s help and he can’t even show. Why? Busy getting his ass kicked.
It’s like they’re trying too hard to emphasize he’s not Snyder’s invincible God. But he also shouldn’t seem weaker than like, Spider-Man? Just an odd take on the character.

Both films lost to the worst Jurassic World film so they are both kinda the losers and show that Superhero fatigue is definitely real. Feige and Gunn should both feel nervous about the genre especially now that videogame and toy films will definitely gain steam.
