I remember being sad when the Haigster passed too. And Olivia Hussey too, I was so sad....
>Yaphet Kottohum not sure. I'm a Carpenterfag but he's already finished making movies a long time ago so I'm not going to get the "he was just a boy, had so much more to give" feeling like I will when Marty passes, who knows he's running out of time and is getting even busier to account for it. I wasn't that heartbroken when Wes Craven died. I still feel like he is alive because I watch his mobies now and then. if Sigourney Weaver dies i die. When the acclaimed director of "Eat the Document" passes I will be devastated and Joe Bob Briggs.
probably the famous person death that affected me the most was Kentaro Miura, who still had the sun and moon to give...

I just watched Hitchcock's Psycho for the first time. It was pretty good. Maybe as a zoomer it didn't have the shock and awe factor for me as it did for people who watched it earlier, because I have seen a lot of shlocky slasher films with similar premises, which I now see as derivatives of Psycho. What did strike me as surprising was reading about the initial reactions of the audience. The blood shown in the shower scene and the repeated shots of Marion in lingerie were considered scandalous in 1960 when the movie came out, but modern films routinely have far more smut and gore than this film. Shows how audience tastes and moral standards have changed since then.

I have never watched a david lynch film and don't intend to. The amount of dickriding he gets without anyone ever saying something specific is clownish. I simply will not entertain the cultural zeitgeist.
>muh wholesome depressed director
Don't care!
>>213068097 (OP)>Which filmmaker's or actor's death ended up hitting you the hardest?Bob Newhart. He influenced my speech patterns and mannerisms more than anyone else and his two shows are a big thing for me and the oldfags in my family.
>Which living filmmaker's or actor's death will hit you the hardest?Probably a tie between Eastwood and Miyazaki, largely due to the fact that they're the only major filmmakers left whose films have a prewar spirit/touch to them. When they die, it'll be like the pre-1945 world dies with it, if that makes sense.
>>213069704>I have never watched a david lynch film and don't intend to.>I simply will not entertain the cultural zeitgeist.Watch The Straight Story. It's literal Fitzgerald or Hemingway-tier Americana artistry distilled into a film.
>>213069285>Freudcel interpretations of my kinosJungcuck thread, Jungcuck board, Jungcuck site. Norman is under the influence of a mother complex. His entire heterosexual nature is tied to his mother, which has rendered him effeminate and homosexually-coded (by virtue of /film/'s favourite twink Anthony Perkins playing the role). He is a man who has been controlled and isolated all his life and therefore his anima is in a state of arrested development - it never grew past its first projection, i.e. his mother... The identity split is a representation of Norman becoming completely possessed by his feminine side, which is, really, just his own hatred for his mother, and desire to murder her for her transgressions against him... but for him the mother = all femininity so all women must die...which is as you know, anti-oedipal.

Decline II is worth seeing even if you donโt care about the bands. One of the few music films that captures a time and place in a way that is entertaining and not overly sentimental. The subjects are very shallow people, but Spheeris is able to approach them with humor and understanding. This film definitely had a huge impact on her Waynes World film, and is probably the only reason that film really works.

>>213070206That doesn't contradict my post in any way.
>>213069891She gets cucked in that movie.
>>213070047>Be more specific and I actually might. It's a remarkably gentle, down to earth biopic about an elderly farmer from Iowa who goes to visit his estranged dying brother in Wisconsin by driving his lawnmower all the way given he's not allowed to drive a car. Along the way, he encounters various eccentric but grounded characters as he stops by, breaks down, and deals with all the stuff you'd expect to deal with being a mega-oldfag driving a lawnmower down state highways in the Upper Midwest.
All the people he encounters are stoic, decent, mild-mannered, plain-spoken, and helpful, though they all have various quirks and forms of pettiness that are very specific to the people that live in that part of the country.
As somebody that grew up in the Minnesota and an avid reader of the literature associated with and from that region, I can say it is undoubtedly the best film ever made about the rural Upper Midwest. All the characters and landscapes are rendered as fully and realistically as possible; with stark, frank dialogue reminiscient of Hemingway and some remarkably emotional passages that sneak up on you.
It's an against type film in Lynch's filmography, and arguably his best given it shows off an incredible knack for storytelling with sparse dialogue, rich cinematography, and incredibly realistic and respectful characterizations of the people in that area, all the more impressive given he's not from the Upper Midwest.
>>213070140But Sarah Gadon says:
> I actually knew a lot about the world of psychoanalysis, because my father is a psychologist. So I grew up with that, and I grew up with names like Jung and Freud floating around our dinner table from a very young age. So it was very kind of comfortable subject matter for me. And then I studied it in school as well. I took psychology in university, the University of Toronto, I still go there part-time. But of course Iโve actually seen a Jungian psychoanalyst.

The funny thing is that all David Lynch films bar Inland Empire and Mulholland Drive are straightforward A to B to C narratives. Just goes to show you the amount of antiintellectualism rampant, where movies like Wild at Heart and Blue Velvet are too challenging for the average nitwit film fan. Truly! The "film fan" is the least intellectual of all film fans. David Lynch makes very simple films.

She's 75 now and probably doesn't have much of a reason to attend cons these days outside of some good ol' attention. >>213072723Do you like punk and 80s era rock?
The first film is a decent snapshot of the late 70s era LA punk scene. The second one is the most famous as it covers the 80s hair metal in LA along with interviews with some of rock's biggest names (Ozzy, Lemmy, Mustaine, Simmons, Perry/Tyler, Cooper) though the director explicitly stated that to get them involved, she had to agree to let them customize their interview scenes (Gene Simmons being interviewed in a lingerie store, Ozzy in his kitchen, Lemmy outside the Hollywood sign). Though it was meant to be earnest, it turned out that a lot of people thought the hair metal guys looked lame and it's credited for starting the backlash against hair metal.
The third (which for years was lost media and only saw a video release a decade ago), is a direct sequel to the first one. It's part "where are they now" for people interviewed in the first film and part expose on the 90s LA punk scene except all the bands are literal who's.

What a pathetic lowlife lol
RIP my Brian Wilson edition.
>>213075650I'll keep it bumped for as long as I'm awake.
Was the "dumping actress images without discussion" rule made in response to that moron? It's a more recent rule.
>>213073139I feel responsible for you now, Kyle Jr, so here, help yourself to some blueberries. But don't give any to the 'fu'nnies! They can keep gorging on junkfood and rotting in ther 4XL shirts for all I care.

>>213075029>Noone here is on his side trying to excuse itI guess I shouldโve clarified that my post wasnโt really directed toward anyone but Gadonfag because he's used that line of reasoning before as an excuse to derail the thread. It's really not an excuse though, just a bullshit explanation that no one buys.
>>213075000>one of the topless Kidder pictures I posted was actually deleted >>213073877It was probably scanned and reported by an AI bot assistant, it seems their reports have priority over users'.
>>213075993>just a bullshit explanation that no one buysWell in this case, it doesn't seem to be the case, but it wasn't an unreasonable hypothesis given that the last time he did something like this was the Kinski bake which it's pretty clear he wanted to sabotage. Otherwise, he's so robotic and retarded it's hard to understand his motivations.

>>213077377Both bakeblocking and counterbaking anyone but Gadonpaki or Dingo are seen as poor form even if it is kinda funny when that anon who bakeblocks and claims the baker was taking too long when they take like a minute after 310 does it.
>>213077377>>213077382no, here's just the first example I was able to find
https://archive.4plebs.org/tv/thread/209768780/#q209795774
it has happened more than just that one time tho. I get not liking Dingo, but his OPs are fine and completely useable, unlike Gadonpaki's which are always at risk of being deleted or spammed to oblivion
Just watched this. Elle Fanning's ass is so enormous it's distracting.
What tasks and trials do I need to complete to get invited to the 'fucord....
>>213077559Dingo is antagonistic to everyone in the thread, if people don't want to associate with him in any capacity it's his own fault. Every action he makes is specifically done purely to annoy people and his OPs are no exception.
>>213077559>>209795778 was baked by Baubro lol.
>>213077559>I get not liking Dingo, but his OPs are fine and completely useableNah. He gets counterbaked for bakeblocking or bakeblocking adjacent (baking at like 300 when the thread's moving at a snail's pace) bakes. More importantly, how is that a waifupost?

>>213077559There was another time when Dingo's perfectly good bake got counterbaked purely out of spite and I along with several other anons really felt for him and expressed our sympathies. So you're not wrong about the bullying clique.
Dingtard talking about himself in the third person like it's fooling a soul lmfao
>>213077715Holy fuck. It explains so much.

>>213077822>Waaaah! I get to be an obnoxious prick and derail every thread because the big bad waifufags are BULLYING ME ON THE INTERNET THIS IS SERIOUS OK (but they're also too sensitive btw)...Log off
>>213077938His OPs are combative so people don't use them. If he wants people to use them he shouldn't make ones that are identifiably made by him with his retarded buzzwords that he uses to start fights every time he comes on here. Dingo can make OPs without anyone knowing it's him but of course he'd never do that.
>>213077765Didn't someone outright make the comparison between Dingo's talk about "haters" and Kyle's talk about bulling just a few threads ago? Hilarious that he brags about his shadow warrior anonymity and gets caught out because his voice is so unmistakable even when he's trying to fool people.
>>213077963While you were out on the town with your waifu, I studied the samefag. Heh, nothin' personnel, kiddo...
>>213077938>but his OPs are fineIs it that hard to make good use of a G*donbake? At least a few questions he's asked for QOTD are defensibly independent of Gadon (even if they're clearly related to her or Fix), and it's not like she herself is totally irrelevant. He gets counterbaked because he's a fuckwit, which is the same with Dingo.
>>213077963You mistaking other frustrated anons for me out of junkfood and caffeine induced paranoia doesn't mean I try to fool people. I even politely point that out by myself occasionally, just to show my good intentions.
>>213078037yes, only because they run the risk of being nuked for his spamming across the whole board
This thread was pretty comfy and enjoyable during its first half. But I guess 'donfag took issue with that, and now we're here.
notice how he has to seethe at a nebulous shadow coalition of waifufags in reference to the non gadon non dingshit OPs, because they do the job correctly and make anonymous OPs not tied to their individual brand otherwise he'd be able to say by name who made what. why are dingcuck and gadonjeet the only ones who can make non anonymous OPs? because they're trolls. 'fuchads once again getting crucified for doing the right thing...
HE'S PUBLIC ENEMY NUMBER ONE
IF RUINING THREADS WAS A CRIME
>>213078093>yes, only because they run the risk of being nukedI don't think that that's actually much of a risk. His bakes rarely get nuked and tend to get archived when he falls asleep and can't bump anymore. He's had /film/ bakes actually win out before and make it to the bump limit iirc.
With all this bake talk, I must remind Dingo old boy not to get hasty and try and do it, for we have one up already. MIGRATE AFTER BUMP LIMIT

>>213078282And? I always follow that credo when it comes to serious matters, notice how you have no doubts who you're talking to now. Can being honorable really confuse people this much? I understand it's a thin line, but from my perspective you people rushing to blame collective frustration on malice of one or two scapegoats just shows how mindless and unwilling to pay attention you really are.
>>213078282Whoever posted that (Kyle?) has been properly buckbroken by waifuchads.
