2 feature length films and they barely go into the minutia of political intrigue of the books. what a shame.

Part 1 could've been denser, it's a long runtime with a lot of nothing happening. I do wish more time was spent there on details in the book that were only skimmed over. Part 2 is a perfect movie to me, it's minimalist in the right ways and hits the right key notes. Messiah is my favorite book so I'm curious as to how it'll be adapted. I know a lot of fans don't like how Chani's stance on Paul's rebellion was written less vaguely, she's a lot more opposed to his political manipulation of the Fremen in Part 2 than she was at that point in the book but to me it reads as Villeneuve keeping Messiah/Part 3 and planning more than Herbert did. I don't feel the same way but I know there are people who read Messiah and felt like it flipped the script too much, that it was over-correction or something. It really all depends on if they stick the landing with Part 3 in what I assume will be a trilogy, because it SHOULD be the most politically dense film but they might spin it more into another action blockbuster.

If they wanted to do that, they’d have had to gone with a TV series. That means completely different talent attached since movie actors/directors don’t commit to big multi season shows typically, would have required a much bigger budget that would be hard to get or would have had a much smaller budget that would have cut into quality, and of course shows can be cancelled easily so no guarantees about actually finishing the story, especially with a slower paced series that would turn off many in the audience
You’re kinda right, don’t get me wrong, the movies literally never tell us as to why spice is actually important to space travel, we don’t see a single navigator or even the interior of any ships iirc, which I was looking forward to

The miniseries had 1/10th the budget and yet was almost twice as long.

Dennis is a hack!

>minutia of political intrigue
People bickering in corridors over nonsensical plans. The hippy boomer author couldn't write a decent political drama couldn't write a political thriller to save his life.
No sick of anons on this board glazing third rate authors to try and look high IQ, picrel too
