its supposed to combine all primal fears
spiders, reptiles, monkeys
i guess thats why designers are so drawn to it, its not like a shit ton of independently created stuff ends up the same way like wendigo and skinwalker slop art

Cloverfield's monster design is pretty solid, the problem is hacks copying it to death instead of trying other designs. It's like when people copied the xenomorph design to death.

That's funny cause it's not scary in the slightest

of course not, i mean normal people, theyre at least slightly creeped out by it
I dont think theres a single movie monster design that actually creeps out any of the jaded fuckers on here

The xenomorph does, anyone who played Alien: Isolation can confirm.

War of the Worlds came first. One could argue Cloverfield added a leg and called it a day. I'd say the little Cloverfield mites were scarier than the big monster itself, while War of the Worlds achieved the opposite effect.

Its a great design when you see it in action, even better when you can't see the whole thing. it just happens to look extra shit when its t-posed on a white background.

Like I said, the design of the monster is not bad at all, it's just creators started to copy it so much the whole "knuckle-walking monster" thing has became stale.

Trek did this before any of these, well somewhat like these anyway.

Yup, nothing wrong with the concept but it shouldn't be constantly repeated.

The bug pit scene still gives me shivers to this day. Truly a situation I wouldn't want to be in.
