So Data had the night shift, but I feel like the kino shift would be Rikerโ€™s morning watch. I could see him setting a fun tone, everybody drinking coffee, talking about their week. Dataโ€™s night shift wouldโ€™ve been a fun episode, the night crew getting into something, but I could see it being very quiet and sleepy.

No, but Iโ€™d imagine a lot of the night shifts were relegated to traveling and general prep/maintenance that otherwise could not be done during the day. Iโ€™m not saying an attack or situation couldnโ€™t arise, but people gotta sleep yo. Data doesnโ€™t. It would be fun to see. Iโ€™m sure they would call Picard to the bridge if the situation was big enough, but if it was some low level threat that data and the night crew could deal withโ€ฆMakes sense why theyโ€™d stick the android on the graveyard shift.

I would love Nu Trek to be good though. Instead, it's a disgrace. You're compulsively defending it because of a brand logo which just seems pathetic and it's why you guys take a lot of heat ITT.

I guess you're a newfag but there was a lot of positivity in /trek/ and Trek threads about STD before its debut. I myself was high on Fuller because he'd written a couple of episodes of DS9 and S1 of Hannibal was good. It was an optimistic time. Nobody was stacking the deck against it. It just fucking SUCKED.

Consider it more similar to a factory, where there are three shifts, not "daytime and nighttime". However being a military these shifts are open to change at a moments notice. There is no union limiting you to 8 hours, and especially if you are in a leadership role, but really any crewmember is on call for the duration of the time they are underway.

Changed his mind hard once the golden age dropped with TNG and the autismos were briefly ousted by the Chad fans who came aboard with TNG and exited once 2009 dropped. NuTrek/NuNerd fans are totally indistinct from cringe beta slop consoomer boomer nerds. If you took a 1960s 70s or 80s Star Trek fan and showed them nutrek they'd soiface themselves into a coronary.

Only TNG-ENT fans had the quiet intelligent thoughtful dignity Shatner wanted from the fandom. If he still posts on here he's definitely (and rightly) calling nutrek fans cringe manchild troons.

There mustโ€™ve been some downtime though. The enterprise had 1000 people aboard, I donโ€™t remember the crew compliment off the top of my head but letโ€™s say 500-600. The vital people are gonna be awake during the morning and afternoon shifts. That probably leaves about 100-150 people to operate the ship between slow hours. Anything can happen because itโ€™s space, which of course means COโ€™s are always on call, but when their traveling to a destination, running diagnostics, or just not on a mission, itโ€™s mean that people can sleep and relax.

Unless the ship goes to Red Alert or is under attack or some other emergency...then they aren't going waking up the Captain.

Similar concept to the VOY 'sode. When Harry Kim is commanding night shift. They get a distress call. He's hemming and hawing whether to wake up Chakotay or cap'n Katherine. But his bridge crew peer pressure him to make the call himself. He goes down there, rescues the sentient AI machine that has amnesia. Brings it back onboard. Whoops. It's a warhead. It relearns it's a bomb, hijacks the ship. Trying to complete it's mission to blow up a planet for a war that has long since peacefully ended.

Should've been more incompetent Night shift Harry. It's fun.

Technically, no, it's just limited to the technology at the time, but just like remastered TNG, it did and should look just as good, but paramount/cbs are stupid/cowards and would rather give 16M to Trump despite doing nothing wrong instead of investing it into remastering DS9.

Laserpig is a stupid NAFO retard and I hate to agree with him on anything but he's 100% correct on the Defiant making no sense, especially as a weapon against the borg.
Even people who should know better like TrekBBS still push out "uhh it's so nimble" while forgetting the Enterprise D can literally move 100,000kms at impulse in literally any direction.
Biggest issue with the Borg is they could adapt to weaponry fast making them functionally invincible once you've used a weapon past a minute. So shoving big phasers on a ship doesn't actually do anything.

Yeh, that is one of them. THE most egregious one is obviously giving Spock a sister. The silliest one is how they retconned Ten Forward from TNG. Most people people just assumed it was called that because it's on deck ten, forward section of the ship. No. Guinan ran a bar in the 21st century called 'Ten Forward'. And it's named after that. Or, it's silly how Section 31 members wear special Section 31 comm badges so everybody knows that they're Section 31.

I watched some video by some historical clothing autist and she explained why clothes in "period piece" films all look like temu garbage in current day. one of the reasons was that they basically don't even make the type and quality of textiles anymore needed to make costumes look authentic. modern stuff is just inherently cheap looking

I also think filming 100% digital has a lot to do with it as well
Worf's makeup in TNG holds up in HD not only because they put in the effort but because it was actually shot on film
Worf looks like he's made out of chocolate in the Picard show because it was shot on digital

The 4th movie was awesome because it had space whales that were going to destroy Earth with their broadcasts because humanity had driven the whales extinct long ago. You made me think about how when the Willow series flopped on Disney+, they just deleted it. And how it would be funny if NuTrek just got deleted and they pretended it never happened. But then I realised they kind of already did that. Parry+ deleted Star Trek: Prodigy. But, when Parry+ started. Before it was even Parry+. It was supposed to be the home of Start Trek. Have all the Treks. They said that. But then they deleted that one.

the Founders were wrong about everything which is why Section 31 was so effective against them. They legitimately did not believe anyone in the Federation was capable of launching a pre-emptive genocidal strike like that, especially one so cold-hearted and subtle. They fully expected it from the Romulans and Cardassians, which is why they baited that strike so that they could easily destroy it.

Say what you want but I like M'Benga. The TOS M'Benga was pretty much a blank slate, dime store Harry Belafonte and all I remember between his two appearances was slapping Spock. So yes, the actor takes it a different way, but I think the character feels fun and fleshed out.
Una is a waste, Ortegas is just Angry Tom Paris, and Carol Kane makes no sense on that show.

Nimoy had incredible aura. You think you can just recast that?
I'm so glad Brent Spiner made Data a brand new character instead of just playing Spock but an android.

STTNG had an episode called "The Outcast", where the aliens, though strictly speaking not gay, were naturally nonbinary, so they were in the ballpark. Did you seethe about that, too? You're really obsessed with "gay". Are you sure you're not a closet case?

>is there anything of value worth mining for on the moon?
Mostly pockets of helium. The moon is made from the debris of a collision between a planet called Theia and Earth during the Hadean age. The plume of debris formed into our moon so it's mostly got what we have, but the helium is what we have the least of.
Interestingly enough, the remains of Theia are still detectable as a portion of the mantle that's got a different density than the rest of our mantle, close to Africa near the Indian Ocean.
