This is easily the best kid's cartoon ever. Everything else that has occasional adult themes and humor is mostly just fucking annoying as an adult (Animaniacs, Rocko's Modern Life). Batman TAS is absolute kino though.

it's okay. has a few standout great episodes, but I don't really get much out of an episodic monster-of-the-week kind of cartoon as an adult. it's the kind of show that really works best as something you catch an episode or two of on Saturday as a kid.

ATLA is the best kid's cartoon imo for actually having a good overarching plot and character development. Spongebob s1-3 is the best kid's comedy cartoon.

I watched it as a literal child. It was, in fact, great. Both weekend only, and 5 days a week after school. It was just violent enough to bring in the kids who wanted to see that, but not so much that parents would turn it off or complain. Batman got to be clever, got to be athletic, and when he was outmatched in either it wasn't because he sucked, it was because he was up against the worst of the worst, and sometimes they're better at brains or brawn

There wasn't a huge over arching plot, but it didn't need it. Batman's crusade against crime in a hell-hole like gotham was the over arching plot, and the rogue of the week meant you didn't need to see every episode to have a good one.

You got filtered by Rocko's Modern Life, it practically pitch perfect.
Animaniacs does suck in retrospect. I remember being appalled at the shitty reboot, deciding to watch the original after that and realizing that while obviously not nearly as bad as the reboot the original Animaniacs were also kind of bad, barely any jokes landed, and the "adult" jokes are mostly just as cringy as the "current day" references in the reboot.

BTAS, the 90's X-men and Spiderman cartoons are the holy trinity. If (like me) you grew up watching them you were blessed.
