Probably either Nacho Libre or Passion Of The Christ. Both are easy top ten material for me despite being eye-rolling for this crowd.

Wachowskis have such a schizophrenic reception, even their defenders have wildly different opinions. My favourite Wachowskino is The Matrix Resurrections. Somehow it made me cry. It was all heart. I like it better than the original even though it's working off a metatextual reading of the original's place in the culture and couldn't exist without it.

I love Ginger Snaps 2. I like Emily Perkins better than Katharine Isabelle and as a non-woman I found the depression/self-harm metaphor of the werewolf transformation to be more applicable than the menstruation theme of the first. I once fumbled a girl who had a crush on me in high school who looked like Emily Perkins. True story! Also plays into the "I want to fucking die aggghhhh" themes of Ginger Snaps 2. A potent film.

Lost in Translation: basically a FNW film Sofia arrived at indirectly through ripping off WKW. Hence it's name is fitting. Filters many (muh representation of Japan). I enjoy it.
Fight Club: immaculately made thriller/black comedy that throws up a lot of pertinent questions aimed at young men, even if neither Fincher or Palahniuk have answers to those questions. A little cringe and juvenile but still a landmark.
Casino Royale: perfect reboot to a franchise that has been a joke for most of its run. A perfect storm of top tier actors and a great script. Shame they couldn't keep it up.

(Nearly) Every time. I just pretend like I'm in a dingy basement theatre in the Bahamas or something and there are flies buzzing around and the sweat is pelting off everyone there.

Now I want to see an Argento movie, Zombi 2 or Dawn of the Dead in that environment.

Even a dingy scan is better than a porcelain 4K restoration where the director now thinks he knows better than he did 20 years ago when he was there making the movie though. @JamesCameron @WongKarWai

An elemental experience. I love the colour in Suspiria. Aren't the only scenes with normal colour the beginning at the airport and when she's having the top secret meeting with the doctor right after Sara dies? The only scenes with modern architecture, too... And the closer you get to the beating heart of the witch's influence, the more garish the colours become. Gold isn't a traditionally scary colour, but saving that most effusive colour until Suzy is in the witch's bedroom was an inspired choice. In a sense, the supernatural power of the witch seeps through the celluloid, making it tangible even in our world. On a 35mm scan, the effect is surely only more potent - witchly power you can almost touch and feel.

I will download a copy for sure after I watch and subsequently offload some of these 20GB scans I already have saved.
