>>213115212Superman himself was very inconsistent emotionally. He saves those rig workers, he saves the soldier and even asks if he's okay, Lois spells out for the audience that Clark not saving people that he can save is not an option for him because of who he is, and he has an emotional breakdown when Zod is killed.
All well and good but then we have him tackle Zod into Smallville. This isn't a bad idea on the surface, Superman being totally reckless as he's new to this, but, ultimately, he is responsible for endangering lives by bringing Zod into to the town. Remorse? Guilt? ZERO. He has zero sense that he is accountable that he has to wrestle with, and later after seeing what the Kryptonians did to Metropolis he has a nonreaction and kisses Lois and they make a joke, vs him being horrified and angry, anger he can barely contain when he confronts Zod, the architect of all this death. Instead he gives Zod this really weird look (pic rel) the entire time the madman is monologuing and obviously about to flip out. Imagine how good it would have been seeing Clark containing his obvious rage in an attempt to reason Zod and spell out Krypton will live again but through his way, not Zod's.
