I'm glad today's children shows don't shy away from these topics!

My theory is that kids are just smarter these days and are wondering about what adults do much earlier than the previous generation. So some people feel compelled to educate them much earlier as well. I think it's weird but not really harmful.

Children's entertainment is the most explicit and intentional form of indoctrination. That has been public policy ever since Reverend Rogers appealed to the US Senate. Anything kids are watching is meant to become national policy when they reach adulthood.

But driving policy has been that children's entertainment should be directed towards educating and influencing kids towards desirable behaviors for the past 30 years at least. This was the most ham-fisted and apparent in the Late 80's to early 90s when they would just drop off a PSA at the end of an episode, but changed to integrate these messages more directly into the content of the episodes early on.

Unfortunately, we're now in the era where all the americans who grew up watching Captain Planet told them in a PSA to stop having children are now adults and producing their own media. And it shows.

This is fucked up.
I got a 3 year old and 1 year old. I limit what screen time the 3 year old gets tk about 1 hour max a week. The 1 year old gets no screen time.

But i let her watch bear in the big blue house, which is genuinely good and teaches them stuff.
I also let her watch Little Bear which is all on youtube for free. Again good stuff about using your imagination.
And recently ive let her watch thr winnie the pooh TV series from the 1980s which has some great animation and wonderful stories.

There's no gay shit, no tranny shit, none of this.
