James Bond has survived every single movie in the franchise except for the last one.
Somehow people still re-watch those movies knowing full well he is never in any mortal danger.

For me it's Tsunamis if you're wondering. They illicit a kind primal horror nothing else does, even the word is a little scary. Earthquakes are low key kind of gay,

my most hated version of this is the day after tomorrow. whole movie is about how its absolutely impossible to survive the cold flash if you arent ready for it. end of the movie, hundreds of people start coming out as it turns into a pleasant winters morning.

A gigantic planet slowly creeping towards earth and getting faster and faster
imagine the gravitational disaster, the gigantic waves, the messed up earth rotation making day cycle feel weirder, and the collision of the rings wreaking havoc before the planets themselves collide.

big waves are what do that
actual tsunamis are just often a big mass of water that quickly floods the place, they don't tend to have the primordial fear tied to actually watching a massive wave crash

Half of all energy released by earthquakes in the last century came from just the biggest 3. There aren't any good recordings of chile or alaska, and the sumatra earthquake occured in the ocean. Tohoku is the closest we have to seeing maximum devestation on video, and even then that only rated 8 out of 12 in terms of intensity. Probably in our livetimes we'll see some serious shit, most likely in the western US https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0E2Q7kr4L2c
