Shenron is some separate entity that the Namekians power. The lore doesn't really go that deep into how it works. In Super, the Namekians got their Dragon Balls from the original planet sized ones, and they've been making knock-offs ever sincr.

I don't like it either. Daima could have done something different to stand on its own but instead it went for GT nostalgiabait, and it did it poorly.
In GT, they just call it SSJ4, it's actually the true super saiyan form using the great ape's power, it makes sense why it looks different from the other SSJ forms. In Daima, it's just an evolution on SSJ3 and makes no sense, no explanation on why the tail suddenly returns or why it looks so different.
Plus there's other things like how the fur cuts off at the wrists or the oversized arms, feels like it's trying too hard to be different from GT's SSJ4.

Goku did this because he thought Gohan loved fighting the same way as he did, only for him to later realize that this isn't the case and that he was wrong. There is also the fact that Goku had huge faith in Gohan's latent potential and thought he would easily beat the shit out of Cell once he got angry enough.

iirc Moro is the longest Dragon Ball arc in the entire Dragon Ball manga franchise.
Nearly all of it is bad, the exception is one great moment during the final fight that feels like good old-fashioned "everyone is here!" DBZ.
Then the ending nonsensically rips of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
2/10, would not recommend.
