>>213301062 (OP)You don't understand, the girl represents science and curiosity. The parents represent the greedy CEO's who doesn't care, and is trying to exploit science. The Compsognathus on the other hand symbolizes the dinosaur on the islands, and the nature of life. The point of it all is that if you don't reply to this, your mother will die in her sleep.
>>213301062 (OP)they wanted the 4chan audience

>>213301062 (OP)Hammond literally tells Ian about the incident and how it pressured the board to quickly shut down the island
>>213301424Thats funny, michael chritchon was already doing the lost world way before production. He says it in an interview in the dvd.
Maybe they started production before he finished the book? or just as he had released it and thus they had to rush improve shit? Otherwise it would had made sense for him to co-write the script.
>>213301566In the 1st book he went unconcious and he probably died but in the 2nd book it turns out he fell into comma and barely made it. Sarah Harding went to rescue him to costa rica hospital or something. Sarah was a badass in the book, she was basically Hanna from cadillacs and dinos.

>>213301062 (OP)In the extended version, she doesn't die and there's a whole scene with lawyers discussing the event and what to do about the situation
>>213302316she also doesn't die in the normal cut since Hammond later just tells Ian she's safe now
>>213301993Its a movie about dinosaurs, not a courtroom drama. Her getting hurt reiterates the dangers the island poses to both adults and especially kids since Malcolm's daughter will be the next kid to go there with her beig not all that much older. Peter, if you want me to run your little camping trip, there are two conditions: firstly, I'm in charge, and when I'm not around, Dieter is. All you need to do is sign the checks, tell us we're doing a good job, and open your case of Scotch when we have a good day. Second condition: my fee? You can keep it. All I want in exchange for my services is the right to hunt one of the tyrannosaurs. A male, a buck only. How and why are my business. Now if you don't like either of those two conditions, you're on your own. So go ahead, set up base camp right here, or in a swamp, or in the middle of a Rex nest for all I care. But I've been on too many safaris with rich dentists to listen to any more suicidal ideas, OK?

No feathers no watch, simple as
>>213301062 (OP)1. Tells the viewer that the general public doesn't know that there is an island is full of dinosaurs out there, meaning the events of JP1 never went public
2. Introduces the compsagathunus and foreshadows their attack later on
3. It's entertaining, and it helps to start the movie with an entertaining scene before the first arc of talking talking talking (JP1 and 3 did this too)
>>213303901The first novel was a straight up horror though. Consider the way Nedry dies in the movie vs the novel. Movie, it's obscured from the camera and we move away, in the novel it's a POV him being disembowelled and then being lifted by his head as he feels the teeth sinking into his skull.
Chrichton studied medicine and his almost detached descriptions of gore I think made it almost more horrifying.

>>213302908Iโd say itโs certainly a good novel on the whole, though I wouldnโt call it a GREAT novel like the original. Together, JP and TLW pack a nice little one two punch. If JP is all you read, then great. But if you want a little bit more, then TLW gives you that and continues the themes of the first book while expanding to new ones as well. I really like how it continued to explore Hammond as nothing more than a showman, Site B existing as the location where all the real work happens and the Park having been a facade of perfection all along - to an even larger degree that already illustrated in the first book.

The girl wasn't on Jurassic Park island, she was on the mainland in Costa Rica when the little dinos attacked her, the point of the scene being that dinos had gotten off Jurassic Park island.
So when they screamed, what do you think they saw?
Was she half eaten like a cat with a mouse or was she rended up with flesh hanging everywhere?

>>213312710More substance in this scene than the rest of the movie combined. Shame...
>>213301062 (OP)Itโs from the first book. Compys attacking and killing kids and babies in mainland Costa Rica leads to InGen investors sending people to the island to investigate a containment breach.
They just took the scene from the first book and put it in the second movie because they rewrote the second bookโs plot to the point where the inciting incident of that book doesnโt happen so they needed something to kick it off.
The first book would be a masterpiece if they didnโt drag out the ending with the Raptor nest. Having the T-Rex just fall asleep and not play a part in the finale was strange too.
Another deleted scene btw
>>213313328>The first book would be a masterpiece if they didnโt drag out the ending with the Raptor nestYeah I still don't know what chrichton was thinking with that. For me, the actual climax is Alan taking down those raptors by himself with poisoned eggs
>>213313185Yeah but they never talk about containing the island or barring it except for ian asking if the island is quarantined

He should have just extended the part where Grant is boating down the river and the rest of the group is trying to get the power back on.
>>213313396I donโt remember the exact plot points, I just remember that some American agency gets reports of weird lizards, which turn out to be compys, attacking kids on the mainland and that sets things off.

That allowed the theme park on the mainland to be finished
That allowed the raiding party to go into site B and pillage dinosaurs

That is why Hammond wanted the group there in the first place to document the site before the raiding party turns up as he knew it would.

full sense of the word "disingenuous"
Bill Bryson's thoughts on the movie have always stuck with me:
>This year we went to the new Jurassic Park movie, Lost World. Now never mind that it is largely identical to the last Jurassic Park movie-same booming footfalls and trembling puddles whenever T-rex comes into the vicinity, same mortified people backing away from a door against which velociraptors are hurling themselves (only to find another toothy creature looming over their shoulder), same scenes of vehicles dangling precariously from a jungly bluff while the heroes hold on for dear life. No matter. The dinosaurs are terrific and a dozen or so people get squashed or eaten in the first hour. This is what we've come for!
>And then it all falls apart. In a culminating scene, a Tyrannosaurus escapes, in an improbable manner, from a ship, runs rampant through downtown San Diego, crushing buses and destroying gas stations, and then-suddenly, inexplicably-is in the middle of a heavily slumbering suburban neighborhood, alone and unobserved. Now does it strike you as remotely likely that a prehistoric, twenty-foot-high creature not seen on earth for sixty-five million years could cause mayhem in a business district and then slip off into a residential zone without anyone's noticing? Does it not seem a trifle nagging and unsatisfactory that while downtown San Diego is full of people doing lively, mid-evening sorts of things-lining up at movie theaters, strolling around hand in hand-out in the residential area the streets are silent and every last soul is fast asleep?
>And so it goes on from there. While police cars are dashing around bumping helplessly into each other, the hero and heroine manage to find the T-rex unaided and undetected by anyone in this curiously unobservant city-lure her some miles back to the boat, so that she can be returned to her tropical island home, thus setting up the happy, inevitable, and commercially gratifying possibility of a Jurassic Park 3.
