definitely not watching the last season. I'm thirty fucking years old. That Russia stuff in the last series was the final straw. Characters stuck in Russia doing nothing the whole season and MORE characters kept ending up in Russia doing nothing.

Season 1 is nearly perfect for me. 2 was still very good, except for the Chicago episode. 3. I thought sucked balls. 4 i thought was half good and half shit. The Mike, Will, Eleven half of the season sucked. The other group was pretty decent. I hate the kid actors except for Sadie. She's hot with a fire crotch.

S1 definitely holds up to a re-watch and a lot of common horror tropes are subverted.
It has the feeling of a classic 80s horror movie but with modern atmospheric tendencies and writing.
The writing is also rather tight for the first season: we aren't shown anything that isn't relevant to the plot and each "episode" directly leads into the next one. It's more like a long movie than a TV show.

S2 and beyond are just TV show slop.

I think first three seasons are about the same. The fourth one is much weaker. Half of the original cast has nothing to do and a lot of drama is tied to characters for no reason witholding information.

S1 was great. The Demogorgon was a cool monster and the Upside-Down design peaked. Even the gate at the lab felt alive with the breathing and everything pulsating. The scene with Hopper discovering it in the lab for the first time was kino.
The other seasons felt watered down and like they made shit up on the fly. They also had Bret Gelman who's only good at making you want to blow your brains out because of how fucking disgusting he looks and sounds.

it was an uninspired pastiche. Only ok due there being generally almost nothing to watch at the time it came out. Which seems to be the rule these days when it comes to entertainment, everything being so shit that anything not being a big stinking pile of literal shit gets a pass these days and called "brilliant" or "genius" etc. etc.

Hopper carried season 1. They made him a simp on season 2 and a fat retard on season 3. He was good on season 4 again but it was such a shit season. I hope season 5 is decent but it's been way too long
