It's kino but sometimes I wonder if it would've been better if James Cameron had directed it since that nigga is obsessed with water.

Also wtf there are only five Waterworld webms in 4plebs and one of them was made by me. I assumed the board liked this movie.

Just when you think the whole premise of the movie can't get more idiotic, the Exxon Valdeez sails in from stage-right.

It's not dumb. It's just Mad Max on water. Movies start with a premise then run with it. It's entertainment.

Nah it's pretty dumb, but it's the sort of dumb where it doesnt pretend it's smart, you just have to accept that the world of the movie has cartoon logic. More entertaining than anything Nolan and Villeneuve have made in a decade.

The first major flop.
It marks the moment when audiences got a brain, and didn't just watch whatever the major studios mandated. The studios tried to get smart. And ever since, it has been hit or miss. Not like before. When whatever they said, the little people just ate up.

It wasn't a flop though. The sets were destroyed by a hurricane. Doesn't make it a flop.

It didnt flop, actually made a profit, it just wasnt the success the studio was aiming for. Heavens Gate (1980) was a flop that comes to mind that was made a decade before Waterworld, totally tanked Ciminos career.
