I couldn't handle the prose in the first paragraph to be honest, and I'm pretty verbose myself.

It's legitimately sad that it looks like actual effort was put into this enormous shitpost. It's not funny, it's not going to get any "actual" responses. Why?

Why do anything? Why do we work our lives away without ever finding the "right one"? These are questions I explore in my other essays.

Kudos for trying I guess but I'm gonna be honest: it's poorly written, you're not making good points, and I get the impression you were high when you wrote this

If ketamine therapy is considered "high" by your standards then sure I guess. Not sure how that's relevant tho

It certainly does. It's relevant because it shows in the writing

NO! I hope you are not turning this in for a class op I'd give you an F! If you were young when Dr. Strange came out so that makes you a in your 20s sensitive FAGGOT who thinks their opinions are worth anything (which is simply not true). A24 is mostly a distributor, they just buy movies they like you stupid fuck. If you are going to criticize something do it concisely and understand what it is. You can't even stay on topic you mention Marvel more than A24. RETARD!

If you're gonna write a first draft high, you have to at least edit and rewrite when you're sober, and be brutally honest with yourself about whether the things that seemed profound in an altered state actually make sense under the light. You might get a good idea or two out of that state, but your prose and style are all over the place, sometimes you're acting like you're writing poetry, sometimes you're barely making complete sentences, and sometimes this reads like a /tv/ shitpost, and I wouldn't hand any of the above in to a professor

You could also cut the entire first page up to "Film is Dead" without losing anything of value

Not a bad essay.

I agree. You should record this as a rant though instead of the danzig graphic novel styling

I actually read your entire essay. I agree with your opinions on A24 and Film School indie films. If I was a teacher grading your essay I would say that you should have focused primarily on that instead of the randoms tangents about AI or David Lynch. I think that main thing that I disagree is the idea that film is dead and that the only way forward is through a new kind of experimental film. I fundamentally disagree with this. I believe that filmmakers and filmgoers need to start holding themselves to far greater standard if we want to see another golden age of film. You brought up Korine who while I like, I find the experimental aspects of his films like Gummo to be the least interesting aspects of his films.

You think your own very specific taste in film should be the universal standard of highbrow cinephilia and you upbraid these twitter philistines you hate so much for not telepathically guessing your taste. You praise Eraserhead and then categorically aver that Twin Peaks sucks like a matronly sunday school teacher scowling at a little boy because he cussed. You're the kind of guy who instinctively sneers at a good movie just because it's popular and this is the organizing principle behind your oh so precious, duly hierarchized personal film canon: how elegant, arcane, ancient the titles and director names sound, how yet untainted by the eager eyes of normies. You have yet to learn that the "taste is subjective" cliche is quite true. And that most people are plebs and will always be plebs when it comes to taste and that's ok. Also Twin Peaks is great, fuck you.

Why did you randomly devote a paragraph to some random dude's account on Letterboxd?
Why should I believe watching 6,000 films no one has ever heard of would damage your understanding of film and not expand it?
