Adjusted for inflation, Superman 1978 did 1.5 billies, while MoS did 940 million, so no. It needs to make another 50%. And then there's Superman 2025, which needs to almost double its BO to reach MoS and tripple it to reach Superman 1978.

Yeah, just like you said. MoS is just a failure in many ways. Adjusted for inflation. I guess we shouldn't mention that when we try to defend MoS all the time.
