>>213317314 (OP)Don’t know. I haven’t seen it and won’t. Even if it has the funniest jokes in a comedy film of the last 10 years, it can NEVER hold a candle to the originals. Enjoy your reboot/gay sequel, nigger faggots. Pic related is probably funnier than the entire movie.
>>213317314 (OP)The shilling for this movie is disgusting.

>>213317314 (OP)Looks gay as fuck. Have little to no interest in wanting to see it.
The actors are good and funny, but the way it's filmed makes it less funny than it could be. The cinematography really takes away some of the humor somehow. I'm not sure how to explain it.
But Neeson and Anderson are good. But the score, the cinematography, the way it's cut and paced are a little bit wrong. A little bit wrong can really harm comedies.
>>213318184Yeah, don't know why they went for flaring everything. The police station being bathed by artificial yellow glow was the one I noticed most.
The editing felt very compressed, the scenes are never allowed to play at a normal pace, all the moments are isolated and cut breathlessly one after the other.
And a lot of shots felt like they were in a studio covered in green-screen to key in stock footage shots.
This director did Hot Rod almost 20 years ago, which from a directing standpoint always seemed quite fine to me, so perhaps it boils down to the traditional issues of analog vs digital cinematography, and not having the budget and schedule to go out in the real world to film real stunts or in real locations.
>>213318184>But Neeson and Anderson are good. But the score, the cinematography, the way it's cut and paced are a little bit wrong. A little bit wrong can really harm comedies.I think its not the cinematagrophy, they were trying to do some stuff in theor own style while mostly mimicing the originals. So they neither could reach the original nor do something new
But I still thought it was a decent watch some of the jokes were done well. Though a lot o jokes felt like they were cut a bit too short like it needed better punchlines

Best gags
>kids arrested for selling lemonade
>the memorial wall of the original characters
>Drebin pulling down a prison wall with his new car
>infra red dog sex
>Drebin beating the shit out of a guy in the background
>The waiting line for goons to get punched
Worst gags
>black eyed peas references
>Drebin losing his Buffy episodes
>more dated pop culture references
>the snowman montage (lasted way too long)
>Drebin farting because he ate a chilli dog (also went on way too long)
Also, some potentially great gags were ruined. Like they did the classic?
>Cigar?
>Yes, I think it is
But ruined it by dragging it out with the guy saying "N-no, I mean do you want a ciger? (That was the joke by the way audience!)" The worst offender was the interrogation joke that was cut far better in the trailer:
>It says you were convicted of man's laughter
>That's manslaughter
>Must have been some joke
That's great. But in the actual film it's awful:
>It says you were convicted of man's laughter, must have been some joke, hehehehe
>That's manslaughter
>*Drebin looks embarassed and fumbles around for 5 seconds*
>>213322266just makes you feel like they had to put something there
it serves to show how it's a forced fan film made by people who don't really care about what they're doing. hardly deserves any attention. random spy film references like james bond? why? but not pink panther then? it wasn't even contemporary humor, the only thing contemporary was the sociopolitical message which of course was completely delirious as expected.
>>213322232Its as if they were parodying it or something
The best part of the movie is the first 10 minutes where they do comedy in the style of the old movies. Then they do a joke where they look at the camera and say "we're gonna do our own thing" and then the entire rest of the movie is a cross between a bad Austin Powers movie and those shitty "epic movie" and "scary movies 4"-type parodies. The cinematography sucks and you can tell if they just knew how to shoot the jokes they would have landed better. It's not a good movie.
They should have given Liam Neilsen white hair, to match with Frank's fantasy dream from Naked Gun 33 1/3...
>>213322714If you're talking about the bank robbery scene, that felt way more like MacGruber than Naked Gun.

>>213317314 (OP)I probably laughed 2 or 3 times total, the rest of the time I was either completely stone-faced or cringing at what I was seeing. Oddly, it seems to have been made mostly for boomers. I absolutely love the originals and other spoof movies of the era, but this movie sucked. I don't understand why it's getting such a positive reception. Makes me feel very isolated from humanity that people find this shit funny.
>>213317314 (OP)It felt like an actual sequel to the original trilogy. I was surprised. Some jokes didn't hit (my theatre was mostly boomers and maybe some gen x) like the whole buffy tivo thing. But it was pretty solid over all. My dad loved these moves and I think he would have laughed a lot at this.
Did Pam get her bolt on reinstalled for this movie? No? Then I'm not interested
Sometimes I wonder if I'm just a cynical asshole, because the guys next to me were laughing OUT LOUD to nearly every joke whereas I was silent for most of the film. I love comedy and I love to laugh and can laugh at some truly garbage stuff (old garrys mod machinimas still make me guffaw) but this movie didn't hold a candle to the original. A couple of jokes got a chuckle (the 'did you get all that' triple down was a good bit) but by and large it was a mediocre comedy

I enjoyed it. The gags hit more often than they missed. But Pam Anderson despite being a good sport does not have great comedic chops, and a number of the gags were straight up recycled, including some of the best ones (infra-red sex gags, waiting line for getting punched by Neeson).
I did appreciate the short runtime.
It is really annoying when you have theatergoers trying to explain the jokes to everyone in the audience in real time and then asking the person they are sitting with "This is funny, isn' it?" and they respond "Yeah, this is so funny." again and again and again. I heard them say this shit like 50 times.
I question whether old people become senile earlier on then most expect. How do they believe that people want to hear them go on like this? It drives me mad.
The snowman sequence was the most hilarious to me, and that is the one most people in my theater did not laugh at.
Many of the jokes they found hilarious I just sat in silence.

I just watched it.
Big fan of the originals.
It OBJECTIVELY isn't as good as the originals and I'm not saying that to seem Elitist, because I find those types of people cringe who say it just to say it.
Half the movie was good and half wasn't. Here's why: In the originals, every single gag/joke made sense, as in it wasn't nonsense, but in this new movie some are nonsense and some aren't. The fact that the gags weren't nonsense in the originals made them feel higher IQ. The nonsense gags in this new one feel low IQ. Then half the other gags are good.

>>213338362that's not correct. the originals had a typical noir murder case or assassination plot.
the new one still is told in this noir style and he's investigating a murder, but the underlying plot with the literal plot device (my first laugh), was a bit too far reaching - it was a global threat
>>213322403>>the snowman montage (lasted way too long)>>Drebin farting because he ate a chilli dog (also went on way too long)the snowman going on for so long was a joke in itself, for me at least. chili dog could have been one joke shorter, but it's not that bad. the scene itself was fantastic
>>213322403> But ruined it by dragging it out with the guy saying "N-no, I mean do you want a ciger? (That was the joke by the way audience!)"Exactly why I wasn’t into it. The original movies trusted the audience to get jokes.

>>213325502I didn't know know anything about the production of this movie but as soon as I saw that faggot's name on the credits a lot of shitty moments in the movie made sense.
>>213322482if they had a character point this out in the board room (who then immediately gets shot for a cheap gag) I don't think anyone would complain - feels like a paramount exec got insecure about drawing attention to other movies even though it was already blatant as shit
there just weren't that many good jokes in general in the second half of the movie, crowd went from going crazy to not laughing at much. shame, because the first half might be on par with the original.

“Miranda rights?”
“No no. Carrie writes. Miranda’s a lawyer. Charlotte’s an art dealer. And Samantha is a whore.”
“May I ask why?”
“Certainly.”
“I went to college here.”
“UCLA?”
“I see it every day. I live here.”
“You can’t fight city hall.”
“No, it’s a building.”
“Can I speak freely?”
“I’d rather you speak English”
"You suspect foul play?"
"No, a chicken couldn't have done this"
“You shot my brother in the name of justice.”
“That could be thousands.”
“You shot him in the back.”
“Hundreds.”
”He was unarmed.”
“Maybe fifty.”
“…He was white”
“You’re Tommy Roiland’s brother!”
