this was the most unrealistic aspect of the story. these same people are ready to put you into concentration camps for not taking a vaccine, you bet your ass they would start liquidating all the useless eaters in order to stretch earth's resources for as long as possible in a real emergency to keep themselves alive. All sembelance of social welfare would disapear over night. All legal concepts of equality would be gone as well. constitutional republics would instantly flip to fascist totalitarian dictatorships and every third world country dependent on food aid would be come direct vassel states that would be forced to hand over all their resources or face starvation. All anti-government shitposters on both sides would be rounded up, and all scientific assets would be secured and not left to rot on some farm growing corn.

Doesn’t he come back when his daughter is an old woman on her death bed who hasn’t seen her father her whole life? Then he decides to leave his daughter to die so he can go fuck Anne Hathaway’s character? Nolan is a very autistic man who doesn’t understand human beings.

Obviously it's a mistake how they completely ignore his son, but I think they do enough to suggest Cooper has a really strong relationship with him and basically trusts him to be okay ("You mean your truck?"). Whereas with Murph they leave on terrible terms and her entire life after that point is focused on trying to repair that.
