yeah it was enjoyable, did something different to other zombie films.
if you're autismo about worldbuilding and a believable world it might piss you off but it clearly wasn't going for that, felt pretty surreal at times.

I loved it personally. I get why people didn't as it's very weird, but I dunno, it just hit all the beats for me. Awesome characters, great horror sequences, surprisingly touching, amazing music, great pastoral/folk atmosphere. People harp on about the last two minutes as if that represents the whole movie

I loved the atmosphere, especially the music, but it was never scary, or exciting, and the action was terrible (the opening scene was embarrassingly bad, and the 360 degree action shots were lame by the fifth time).

One question I had though, is where did all the infected come from?
I thought 28 Days' ending, and of course 28 Weeks, confirmed basically 100% of infected had starved to death within a few months.

Yes yes, I know, the virus eventually mutated which changed the infected to be slightly smarter than before (foraging for food, extremely basic social behavior, alphas), everyone was dead before this change. Where did that second wave of nu-infected come from?
There must be hundreds of thousands of infected throughout the country (going by how many we see in the middle of nowhere up north), who apparently just appeared out of thin air.

Nigger I know they eventually evolved, but 28 Days and 28 Weeks both confirmed they were all dead
There were none left, maybe a few dozen (remaining survivors slowly turning), I'm wondering where the extra million or so came from, why there's so many alive now.

I googled looking for answers to this, and I just got your answer (which ignores them spawning out of thin air) and:
>lol it's because they breed now
This seems extraordinarily rare, and it's unclear if she bred as an infected or not (she was wearing clothes which implies she was only recently infected).
And it's only been a few decades, not enough time for the few thousand from the London fuckup in 28 Weeks to repopulate the entire country

I get what you mean. The 28 weeks sequel ends with the infection spreading to Europe after it got reignited from the carrier-mother. But that still wouldn't explain the fact that in the first movie probably over 90% of the human population, infected or otherwise died from starvation or being beat/bitten to death. So you're point still stands. I'm pretty sure even in the second movie, it was only ONE remaining human colony left, right? So the line in the new movie aboutn "we don't go into towns/cities" wouldn't m,ake sense because they'd have all died before the infection would have mutated. Even with 10% of the infected somehow surviving starvation enough for the virus to mutate enough that it would allow them to sustain themselves and reproduce, it wouldn't allow them to repopulate the UK (with infected) in 28 years time or whenever the viral mutation was supposed to occur along the timeline.
>t. failed Biologist
I did like the movie though. I also guessed the entire pliot to the next movie almost immediately picking up on Main-Jimmy's upside down cross there at the end.

It's actually a three-parter. Next one is directed by woke niggress that did the Candyman reboot and The Marvels ultra-flop. So, I'm not looking forward to the next installment but Cillian Murphy will be back for #3 (and I think Fiennes is on the cast list there too so he survives the next, probably) and is directed/written by Boyle/Gardner again so it'll probably be good.

It's good. It's a strange movie. I watched it and then i've been playing bavk some scenes occasionally. I'm intrigued by the last sequence. Why Jimmy Saville? Why the bizarre acrobats ? I learned that Boyle won't direct the sequel, instead it's Nia Dacista some female negro diversity who directed the Marvels abomination.
So my take is that Boyle hinted that he was being hijacked by the Disney Hollywood pedos who can only make stupid super hero slop. The last sequence us a pedo super hero.

Yeah raiders could never make a boat of their own and its not like they have a walled compound and lookouts.
The real question i have is how in 28 years did they not expand a walled fortress to the mainland given they cut down a gazillion trees already. Like for 28 years they just walk the lumber back to base piecemeal? Barely any security on the woodcutters?

Saw it yesterday and yeah, it's not a "bad" movie, but it didn't do anything for me. Seems like everything should've clicked but didn't. The trailer felt like a really dark dystopian nightmare with cults and such, and it was just TWD. I mean the story was fine and heartfelt yet didn't clicked. It happens, you can get a nice script, nice concepts, nice visuals and actors but the editing or the pacing just don't work together and makes it fall flat.

Next time you have a stomach flu or fever just imagine feeling like that every waking hour of every day.

I've had morphine before - I can't imagine what it would be like to be sick without it. And these people would need it every moment of their lives to merely stay lucid. I feel like the people who are (religiously) against euthanasia have never witnessed suffering that modern medicine cannot mitigate. It's like the people who are against abortion until someone they know needs it to literally not die.

I think one of the most determining points of zombie movies are how much focus the zombies get.
The original did it just right, while Weeks focused too much on them, and Years too little.

The alpha also sought vengeance on Spike and Isle because it thought they killed the infected woman. It took a moment to stare at her for a few seconds.
I don't think EVERY infected are capable of doing that though, just the alphas/hyper intelligent ones. Most of them seem to have like a monkey see, monkey do mentality like when they were drinking/bathing in the river.

could be, but unlikely. i think the fat bastard just happened to suck on his shoelaces before making the connection that shoelaces = non-infected
for normal infected, i always saw it as a purely visual thing. that's how any of us would identify an infected, through their body language alone. probably the same for them but the other way around

>it was never scary
Horror movies are rarely "scary" unless you're 12, they're about interesting concepts like monster design, gore and things like atmosphere, which you as you said was a strong point with this one.
>the action was terrible (the opening scene was embarrassingly bad, and the 360 degree action shots were lame by the fifth time)
I thought the action scenes were good, the matrix killcam effect worked well and wasn't overdone I thought, they used it just enough that it didn't outstay its welcome. I will agree though, the opening was embarrassingly bad.
