Is it the mystery of why every new Star Trek installment is worse than the last?

All the cum from the holodecks is the protein they resequence in the replicators, and this is why everyone in the federation seems liberal.

Why do writers never seem to understand that mysteries are more interesting than answers? And that the audience doesn't need to know every single scrap of irrelevent lore in order to enjoy a story?

This sentiment is born from how its easier to create intrigue than it is to come up with satisfying answers.

Up to a point. If you're like L O S T and keep making more and more convoluted shit without ever answering anything, people become bored.

Yeah this is the problem with ever-expanding lore and constantly adding new writers into the mix. Continuity gets lost overlooked (or you get a pompous writer who blatantly disregards it).
