I worked in one that was for nepo kids, children of politicians mostly, brain surgeons, etc. It's not that hard to work in a school like that if you are straight-laced and can follow rules yourself, most teachers just don't do it out of principle, making the rich win harder.. Anyway, I would say genetics play a large role, the teaching is maybe 20-30% better than a normal school, but the real difference is that you are surrounded by other rich, intelligent kids, so the environment just has less of the things that usually lead kids astray. As for real genius, that tends to come from private tutoring. I used to tutor for very, very rich families and I can tell you that is where real genius is fostered, often they don't need your help, you are just there for the questions they have that aren't covered by the textbook. But yeah for kids that are going to go ivy league in their teens, it's due to genetics and private tutoring rather than prep school, not that those kids won't also be successful, they will.
