This makes me mad more than anything
Why does there have to be a gruesome and tragic death in an animated movie for children

You never actually see his mom get killed, you just hear a gunshot and she never shows up again. As for why that's part of the plot, death happens to us all eventually, some sooner than others. Some kids don't have moms because they died - doesn't have to be murder but disease, accidents, etc. I think Bambi is some of Disney's best storytelling from their classic period.

I always liked Bambi more than The Lion King as a kid.
Maybe it was the art or atmosphere, but Bambi was just calming.

Yeah, that was back when Disney ripped off itself without being quite so obvious, as opposed to those god awful live action remakes. The only one that was even somewhat justifiable was Cinderella because the animated version was so bare bones in terms of story. Don't get me started on the abomination that is Maleficent.

I agree. The live action Cinderella was the only improvement I've ever seen Disney make on an animated feature.

IMO Disney peaked with Sleeping Beauty. Nothing they've produced since has measured up, artistically anyway.

I've always felt there are parts in that movie that look amazing and others that feel cheap.

That movie is so gorgeous. Also has Disney's best villain (pic). What possessed them to give her a sympathetic back story in live action? But I agree 100% on Cinderella live action being an improvement - Lily James was perfect, and Cate Blanchett was an awesome evil stepmother.

They made some horror schlock this year of Bambi.

As soon as I looked it up it looked exactly like the Winnie The Pooh Horror version and I was right. I mean sure why not, but still dumb. Still would prefer just a regular version so I can just make fun of it.

>Hunter shoots doe
>Doesn't drag it out of the woods, gut, skin, and dress it and make jerky and sausage out of it

Completely unrealistic

They were going to remake it at one point, along with Robin Hood. It just wasn't high priority apparently.
