The cinematography is terrible, so is the editing. Shooting on an iPhone was a mistake - same as shooting 28 Days on a shitty digital camera back then, it doesn't hold up and looks like ass.

The best part of 28 Years Later is the trailer with Kipling's poem.

I thought it was ridiculous at the time and still kind of do, but I'm struggling to think of the last time a film completely blindsided me like that. I'm looking forward to Bone Temple, especially if it's really going to go full-on Mighty Noncin' Power Rangers. No it certainly did not, the first was shot on 480p digital not because they wanted to achieve these visuals, but because of the novelty of digital cameras and the need to set their gear up very quickly in London, where they had very little time to shoot in empty streets. The first looks blurry because of the 480p upscale to modern 1080p, but at the time, DVDs were recorded at 480p anyway, so it couldn't be that.
It wasn't meant to look like lost footage, this is pure cope, Danny Boyle himself denied this.

The whole armed forces thing was actually more jarring that the end. I do have to say as someone who was in the Navy and sailed in between Scotland and Bergen Norway that it would be strange that there wouldn't have been enough radio contact with another blockade ship to get a pickup. Am I forgetting a one off line about losing radio contact? Probably. We've also done a lot of operations with rhib boats in various weather conditions. You wouldn't want to spend a week in one but there should be enough logistics in a blockade for a rescue and after spending time talking to helos there would definitely be flight ops around a blockade. It doesn't even bother me in the end though. It's actually a zombie trope to have the armed forces be incompetent clowns. It's like a rule at this point. Ultimately it's just a movie though so who gives a shit.
