My kids like both. They are depicting different themes. There's more sorrow in Totoro, but it's also the more whimsical movie.

I tend to prefer its pacing more. Kiki is a bit more focused on the trials of a teen girl.

Totoro is comfier because it doesn't have any real stakes. It's a vibe movie. Kiki actually has "conflicts" to resolve.

They're both comfy, but Totoro is more comfy than Kiki because Totoro is basically a slice-of-life anime film and it doesn't even have an antagonist.

Kiki's the more comfy one for me, since I think the girls in Totoro are a bit irritating at times. Whisper of the Heart is probably the "comfiest" of Ghibli's movies in my opinion though. But I'm a basic bitch, so Mononoke's my favorite overall.

I once bought a plush cat bus from Goodwill because I didn't know what the fuck it was and it looked goofy and amused me and was a dollar. Then some years later I watched Totoro and was glad I did. So on the basis of that I will say Totoro
