Aside from Wolverine and Cyclops (who gets unfairly shit on anyway), most of the popular X-Men are women. I don't think there's anything wrong with focusing on the female characters in an X-Men movie since I'd rather focus on Rogue than Morph or Iceman anyway. But the fact that they're coming out and advertising it as a "plus" IS suspicious.

Because you have limited spots in a movie. You need small casts to give time to characters. If you simply say create a new character fine but that character is still gonna be a token add on that requires you to remove white characters. And appealing to the most people means lots of diversity.
