can someone explain or theorize on the current state of MDE, especially charls and erick? was there ever any explanation about how charls went from the famous red room rant about sam, to working with him, with a fake smile perpetually pasted on his face, a couple days later? i mean for a guy who is constantly talking about spiritual warfare and conspiracy theories, it seems very weird for him to completely go back on all of that shit... for the opportunity to grift pay piggies?

and then the whole "WP2" bullshit. like are they genuinely thinking it's good or artful in any way? with these two bit fanboy directors... there's just nothing in it that holds a candle to WP1. I don't even think WP1 was all that great, even though there were definite bright spots. But it's so clear that Andrew Ruse had legitimate vision and talent that these other guys didn't. And any artistic integrity or effort that Sam and the boys had put into WP1 just isn't there anymore. so are they just lying to try to sell the show and then the diehard fans are eating it up so they don't feel retarded for wasting all this time anticipating it? or what is going on?

There's no question about why Charls left. Sam got the show cancelled due to his bad behavior. That's completely obvious to anyone who has paid attention to MDE over the years. The fact that Charls was upset about that would be obvious to anyone with half a brain cell. An aspiring comedian gets his big break ruined by his collaborator, so he hates his collaborator. Seeing Charls air it all out in a drunken rant wasn't revealing any special or new information, it was just confirming what we all knew. He hated Sam for ruining his dreams. Called Sam a nerd and a loser, Nick a genius, etc. So maybe the specific information was that he believes Sam wasn't the creative force he purports to be.

Then he gets back with Sam, with no explanation whatsoever beside, "i was in a coffin, now i'm not." There's no explanation about how he went from hating the guy to not hating him, or what transpired for him to do a 180. Whereas before, there are context clues to give us the missing information. What new information is there besides he's put his tail between his legs to participate in zombie MDE because he has kids now and doesn't know how to make money otherwise? And how does that answer my question? Dumb fuck.

Sam clearly offered to pay for Charls and his families house in NE while giving him more creative opportunities (something of which he was mournfully lamenting in every kuwait stream). As much as charls might hate or still hate sam, he clearly was in a desperate spot and the turkey stream with him spiraling out and threatening his wife while drunk must have been when he was at rock bottom mentally and spiritually. No man can continue living like that under those circumstances

so Charls was straight outta cash, Sam had been streaming and it was definitely after Nick had done a scuffed realtor or two, fans had been SPAMMING superchats and back then Sam still read them all no matter what. Kept asking about Charls, Sam slowly got more apologetic, eventually reached out privately and they squashed the beef to make more art.
But if you watch the Palace, or are a top 5% Charls head like I sadly am, like I bought hardcover Book of the New Sun and am partially schizo now, you would know that Charls hasn't really forgiven Sam as much as purported. He hints to holding the same views, but I think they signed for enough $ that he has to bite tongue. Charls has been sloshed since like April tho all love he has been in revel in mirth. Erick has twins as of last year so he's always been an IRL chad with a true gig.

totally agree, I grew up on internet skit comedy, MDE especially earlier than 2015 stuff was so great. This last set of skits felt too infected by Fishtankisms, bitterness from the cancellation (which is fine, but it must fuel something greater), and rehashing unfunny skits. Sam can't act, or at least he only had one real character he did. Erick was a highlight of Extreme Peace, but yeah every good skit had undermining moments.

Charla still did a couple early car ‘Hyde wars’ car podcasts after the show was cancelled. So he didn’t immediately despise him just for that. They were friendly a joking like I’m not sure they could one on one today, driving over to I think Charls’ place at the time. Watch the James Price video. After World Peace got cancelled Sam told Trappped (the MDE editor) and James Price to not work with Charls and Andy again because they pitched the show to the Adult Swim without him and he thought they were “stealing his talent”. Trappped refused (confirmed by Price) and became homeless according to Charls in that same Turkey rant.

Charls invited Sam to John Maus show to mend things (this was around August 2017 I think, you can check Charls’ instagram for that period) and “gave him a call when it got heavy” and Sam told him they were through. In that same period you have people commenting on Charls’ instagram and asking him why Sam was no longer liking his posts.

Charls was probably thinking “right, this guy keeps fucking our shit with publicity stunts but so I’ll go my own way but we can still be friends” but after Sam’s continuing malevolence nuked any chance of him being employed in the industry again he probably stopped trying to restore their relationship. A year later Sam was begging on twitter and asking Charls to “name his price” which is an insanely malevolent thing to say after everything was said and done.
