I unfortunately think I ran out of any decent animes. Shonen slop, especially the battle variant, is horrible to watch. You can maybe enjoy a few minutes before you're reminded about how braindead the intended audience is with all the needless exposition and AstroTurfed aura farming moments. This appeals to children, and surprisingly a large segment of the adult population. I enjoy good writing, ideally in the form of a serialised story where the plot unfolds. Thrillers of any sort would do the trick, idc if its a corrupt police department in LA or a medieval civil war with dragons thrown in the mix, make me invest in something that would be kino by /tv/ standards, not /a/.
The issue with this sort of ask is that the best you can hope for is that the peabrained retards interpret a wish for an adult story to equal gore and needless brutality like Goblin Slayer. The vast majority would look you straight in the face and claim something like Hunter X Hunter fits this criteria. A generic Japanese kids show with the only difference being a few individuals die...the dialogue, the plot, the clique arcs, it's a Japanese kids show with the occasional splat of blood but apparently that puts it in the same category as Attack on Titan or Berserk.
Anime fans are impossible to deal with. They can't give you a honest answer, they must defend their slop and maintain the echo chamber opinions they've acquired or else they might realise they wasted their time and are fans of horseshit.
You don't like the shitty writing? Boohoo it's because YOU don't understand the real meaning, the dub was lacking, the subtitles didn't do it justice, the adaptation wasn't good, just read the 1000 issue manga (40% officially filler) and a dozen other copes.
