Superior Spiderman.
Doc Ock was dying of something, and decided to implant his mind in spider man's body.
He finished peter's degree (finally), then moved to the west coast and opened his own mega-corp.
Peter's influence was still there and slowly but surely Doc Ock/Superior Spiderman realizes he likes being a good guy, and arguably he's better at it than peter.
Eventually Peter's consciousness re-asserts itself and the status quo is reset.
It was a pretty solid run, and most people liked it.

Peter exists to suffer.
I haven't been keeping up with it all, but the new Ultimate Spiderman has been pretty well received. Takes place in an alternate universe where The Maker stops of neutralized as many heroes as possible before they were even created, and when Iron Lad rebels and freezes him in time for two years he goes around trying to rebuild the super heroes of that world.
He goes to find a Peter Parker who was older, married to MJ, and has kids, and gives him the chance to become spider-man. Its been one of the best selling marvel comics in years.
I read the opening books by hickman, but I've just been keeping up with it in the trades, I'll read it once its all done. I really like when comics have a limited scope, and its a self contained story line.
Though Miles is in the new ultimate universe looking for his sister, so part of me wonders if they're not going to kill him off stopping another incursion from happening.

Spider-Man's no-kill rule is actually so aggressive when Daredevil accidentally killed a guy (No fakeout, he really did just knock a guy back and he broke his neck on a piece of asphalt) the first thing he did was break into Daredevil's house and warn him to retire.

His is slightly more logistical than Batman's at least. Marvel heroes are perpetually under some measure of PR crisis and are on thin ice constantly. He made Daredevil retire because Kingpin was running New York City as mayor and would be more than happy to use Daredevil killing people as a way to get taxpayer dollars put directly towards killing heroes and re-igniting the superhero registration. Spider-Man himself struggles to maintain a decent reputation and letting people die under his watch makes it even harder.
If he kills, it makes everyone else's lives much harder because a lot of major Marvel villains have outright infrastructural power (as opposed to DC villains who are usually aliens and psychopaths with little to no non-criminal power or are career heisters who themselves refuse to kill or hut innocents meaning it's a much more clear-cut debate).

>>213391590
>You know, except for all the times he does. He's given the Punisher the same speech every time they team up.
Pretty much every time they do is a forced plot contrivance. There are also multiple times where Spider-Man explicitly targets the Punisher. Frank in particular is a common target of Spider-Man's lashouts over it.

Street level is a terrible term for the power scale since the "street level" heroes of Marvel aren't defined by power, they're defined by personal lives. Luke Cage could turn Iron Fist into a pretzel and can arm wrestle Hulk but he's still just a guy trying to pay rent so engages in superhero "merc work" on the street, that's why he's street level.

I've always liked the idea that individually most of Spidey's enemies are such threats that would need a hero team to take down, and then there's Spider-Man who's been doing it by himself for years.

To be fair the punisher was at the middle of a big public kerfuffle at the time with cop gangs using it as a symbol.
So first they changed the punisher logo, then they just decided to write the character out.

>Marvel heroes are perpetually under some measure of PR crisis and are on thin ice constantly.
Eh, there's plenty of Spider-Man's villains that don't have any infrastructural power and it's not as if Batman is always a beloved figure, and there's plenty of DC villains who do. Lex Luthor became President before Norman did. The reason they have no-kill rules is the exact same, because comic writers don't want to get rid of their long standing characters.

it's the dumbes shit because literally every hero with super strength who doesn't kill holds back. Superman holds back, Luke Cage holds back, The Thing holds back, She-Hulk holds back, but now because of this stupid panel every time Spider-Man comes up one of his fans will rush to explain to you how hard Peter holds back, as if all the numerous times he's been shit on while fighting for his life he was only using an ounce of his power, and they will always, always without fail, bring up Doc Ock punching off Scorpion's jaw. It's legitimately worse than Batfags with prep time at this point.

No he isn't, Rhino is easily much stronger than him. Rhino can take a few punches from the Hulk. He's not trying to kill him, like 99% of superheroes aren't trying to kill their opponent, but he is not holding back to any significant degree when he's full on fighting for his life against him, anymore than than any other character with super strength is "holding back" fighting one of their super durable enemies.

What always bothered me about the MCU is how weak they made Asgardians and Hulk. Iron Man, Cap and Spiderman all feel comparable to their comic book counterparts in terms of power. But Asgardians Gods just feel like a bunch of weak losers. Only Thor and Hela feel strong enough to be called a God. Loki definitely doesn't, I'm pretty sure that even MCU Cap can beat him up in a fight and he has zero magic outside of making a few clones of himself. Meanwhile in the comic books he mogs Scarlet Witch and Dr Strange in terms of magical ability and is physically strong enough to no sell heroes like Spiderman or Iron Man punching him, which is obvious because he can survive hits from Thor going all out. Hulk is also a huge loser, he's supposed to be the strongest, but all he's ever done is get beaten up by Iron Manlet, get beaten up by Thor, get buck broken by Thanos, and then got emasculated and turned into a literal redditor, and also beaten up some more including by Dr. Strange's bald slut master.

Yes, he's obviously not Hulk level, Hulk would win without much difficulty but Rhino is several times stronger and more durable than Spider-Man. He's definitely not pulling his punches against him. Scorpion's powers come from the suit and Doc Ock punched him in an area unprotected by the suit.
