You don't need to be raptor smart to remember things. I think people forget that living animals outside of simians do the following things

Animals as large as Spino and T-rex cannot be dumb. Once they reach that size they wouldn't be able to camouflage or sneak around as effectively. They need some brainpower to plan ahead.

I find it way more cool that spinosaurus was like some odd whale/sea-dragon version of a megatheropod instead of just another large land hypercarnivore. It is a wholly unique dinosaur and for what it's worth, seemed to be doing something right since its teeth are one of the most common finds in its fossil formations.

Also while its definitely not like rex in terms of papers, spinosaurus is (ironically) the most complete and well-understood spinosaurid in paleontology. It usually gets a paper published about it every year and we do have several specimens of it, not bad by any means.
