I find it way more cool that spinosaurus was like some odd whale/sea-dragon version of a megatheropod instead of just another large land hypercarnivore. Also while its definitely not like rex in terms of papers, spinosaurus is (ironically) the most complete and well-understood spinosaurid in paleontology. It usually gets a paper published about it every year and we do have several specimens of it, not bad by any means.
