Why was Squid Game season 1 so much better?

Because it was new and that combined with bright colors is all you need to ignore dogshit writing I guess.

It was a passion project that the director spent years trying to make.
S2 and S3 were a cash grab because he wasn't properly compensated for S1, he had said everything he wanted to say with the first season.

realistic characters and actions, they had no idea how to build up the mc in the other seasons without it being dumb and over the top.

The worst part of season 1 was the dumb cop plotline, and season 2 and 3 doubled down on that and had it take up even MORE time.

do not watch season 2s of kdramas
do not ask for season 2s of kdramas
do not engage with season 2s of kdramas
they're trying to ruin kdrama the exact same way they ruined western tv, do no fall for their tricks. one of the biggest appeals of kdramas was that they were long (16-24 episode) single seasons, neatly wrapped up.
