This would have worked better if the audience weren't informed of the twist 45 minutes earlier

idk, maybe shoot that section first person, so the audience know that there is a rat but still don't know who it is until the end. Or just don't have the ultimate scene of the movie built around this reveal if it's already been revealed

Imagine getting filtered by a fucking Tarantino flick. It's not a whodunit, it's watching these guys in the fallout of a heist. When you find out Orange is a cop you get the flashback sequence to learn how Orange infiltrated the group. It's the same reason the heist was never shown, it's not the point of the film.

The obvious point of him saying that is the connection he's formed with Mr. White. It's not all about a reveal to the audience. The entire point is that everyone knew but him.
