>>213417495im reading through the light novels so i can actually put an essay together on it.
the answer is what's the throughline between:
>ryuuji always cleaning up/fixing little messes he sees>them both needing to resolve historical family issues before starting a relationship>how the relationship starts (taiga being interested in someone else)minori kind of summarizes it in one of her lines
"run towards what you can see"
this scene kind of sums it up

the op also captures it
it is basically making a sort of existentialist/aesthetic argument where attachment to reality is dependent on our ability to be responsive (or available) to the current situation and be willing to be transformed in a way we don't understand as opposed to systematic/technical thinking.
What matters is your current experience and your fidelity to that experience.
Another film that kind of captures this would be Malick's To the Wonder but it doesn't do it nearly as well.

a big aspect of the more serious existentialists is that sort of tension between systematic/technical thinking and the idea we can understand a situation fully vs the necessity of committing fully to things without full understanding, and that wanting systematic mastery essentially being cutting you off from reality. It's tied in with our own personal histories (the family stuff) as well as how engaged we are in our current situation because
>We are plants whichโwhether we like to admit it to ourselves or notโmust with our roots rise out of the earth in order to bloomin the ether and to bear fruit.
and that that alienation of wanting to understand it actually prevents you from ever understanding what you are doing.
another piece of fiction I quite like on this subject sort of is Wonderful Fool by shusaku endo.
(this is more what actual existentialism is not gay le does life matter im gonna goon)
