Unfair, Season 3 was unnecessary but also produced moments of weird kino, if you can get past the troll-like pacing. The arm-wrestling scene? The midget assassin? The curated musical guests? Special Agent Tammy Preston? Michael Cera's best role since Arrested Development? Fuck You Albert? Granted, there were a lot of low points (post-wall Audrey Horne and the other midget, why does Lynch love midgets so much) but it's still an overall win.

You obviously missed the point of season 3.
#3 season is entirely about the show and its fans, and Lynch was abstractly trying to show what happens when fans just won't let a good thing die, e.g. he didn't want to make a season 3 but the fans demanded it, so Lynch decided to screw with them in season 3, and of course it still turned out decent because its Lynch.

I didn't think it was bad,.I thought it was pretty funny. The tedious parts with Dougie I had to fast-forward through. But the ending was perfect and most won't get it. Oh well, such is art.

You learn to appreciate Dougie on rewatch because first time you watch it you want Cooper back. MacLachlan killed it. He's playing at least 4 different characters who all feel distinct.
