this is literally true
but it’s legitimately far more difficult for some than others, as there are several well known and studied genetic factors that play a huge part
for one, different individuals have different hunger hormone rates, further different individuals have different satiation hormone response rates, further still different individuals really do objectively burn calories at different rates all else equal (age/gender/activity level etc) (the use of calories by the body is in fact a multi varied and complicated biological process, it’s not something simple with consistent returns like throwing x amount of coal into a furnace) (this can make a massive difference, in extreme examples it can effectively turn a McDonald’s small fry into the caloric equivalent of a large fry)
so while it is literally true that individuals essentially choose to be fat via poor diet choices, it is disingenuous to imply that all individuals “suffer” the same or that everyone has the same/same level of temptation/impulses but randomly some simply choose to be fat

I say this as a constant gym goer that tracks his macros everyday
I’m actually in shape for the summer, but God damn I literally dream about pasta nowadays while my lanklet friend stuffs as many cheeseburgers into his mouth as possible to put on any amount of mass
nigga I bet you can’t even fathom the idea of car exhaust smelling delicious due to your caloric deficit
